Why do I have to go through personal coaching before attending group classes?

Our personal training sessions take the steps necessary to prepare you for group classes. Movements (such as squats, snatches and pull-ups) that will drastically improve your fitness take time to learn and properly perform. It’s difficult to teach these to a large group of new folks all at once, because of the attention to detail required to make certain each person is properly performing each movement. We want to ensure your safety and reduce the risk of injury by closely monitoring your form and performance throughout the sessions. In addition, mobility and flexibility take time to improve. By working one-on-one or two-on-one, we can adapt our training to address your specific mobility issues. You will be surprised at the changes you will feel in your body after a short period of time.

At the conclusion of personal coaching you will have a good understanding of 30-40 movements and how to properly scale them to your ability, if needed. You’ll feel confident and comfortable showing up to hit the workout with the group.

Don’t I need to be in shape to CrossFit?

Absolutely not—CrossFit is what will get you into shape! All workouts can be modified for any level. For example, pull-ups can be done with a band or be substituted with ring rows. There are many people at varying levels of ability in our community, and we welcome all!

Won’t lifting weights make me bulky?

Ladies, you’re not going to wake up one morning looking like a female body builder. It takes a very regimented routine and diet for that to happen, and women don’t naturally have the right hormone levels to build muscles like that. CrossFit will strengthen your muscles, which in turn causes you to burn more calories at rest. If you don’t believe us, read this.

Do I need a partner for the Saturday 9:30am class?

Nope! Just show up and we'll make sure you're partnered up. Because we promote working with a different partner each week, Saturday classes are a great time for all the members to get to know one another.

Can I come to any of the classes on the schedule?

Absolutely! We understand that schedules change and one day you may make 6:00am while another day 6:30pm is better. Attend any time that fits on any given day, just remember to RSVP.

Can I work around an old injury?

Let our coaches know about your injury, it’s limitations, and any instruction from a doctor and we’ll be sure to help you modify or change the movement so that it works for you. Safety is number one, and we can help to make sure you stay injury-free while enjoying the benefits of our workouts.

Is there a long-term contract?

No, we just ask that should you wish to cancel you give us 30 days notice. 

Can all of the workouts be scaled/modified?

Yes, every single movement we do has a modification for people of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels. Our coaches are here to help you modify your workouts and teach you how to safely progress through each of the modifications.
